In 2007 we were approached by one of our major clients to design & build a specialised container system for Self-Contained Deployable Infrastructure. The container would have to be rapidly deployable to provide high performance surveillance, target acquisition and communications capabilities in-theatre. The design is based on industry standard ISO carrier technology that can easily be field deployed using air or land methods into the roughest and remotest terrain. The 20’ system has integrated stability outriggers and houses self-contained power generation & distribution with EMC suppression, a climate-controlled command and control centre with shock-mounted equipment racks, and a high-stability sensor & communications tower. This 20’ system is transportable by C130 aircraft – we were further tasked to split the storage, data-collection and data-processing elements into smaller 10’ ISO containers which could then be transported by Chinook helicopter. Thus military planners then had the flexibility to deploy this vital infrastructure in remote & inaccessible terrain and is proving to be a great success for all concerned.
