| The
Company was founded in 1974 to provide refurbishment, repair & manufacturing services
to the container industry. It quickly developed into a respected manufacturer
and innovator of designs to which the container concept can be adapted, and continues
to provide novel solutions to the shipping, offshore oil, nuclear energy and defence
sectors. | |
We occupy modern workshops with
overhead cranes, and all welding is carried out in accordance with approved procedures
& qualifications. An in-house design team ensures the structural integrity of
the designs, which are draughted in AutoCAD and can be used by customers to superimpose
their installed equipment, as necessary.
 | As
an original equipment manufacturer of ISO standard containers, the design and
manufacture of shelters and military containers is a core activity at Bootle Containers.
| Standard units
and bespoke variants are designed and produced for a wide range of requirements,
which include for the military command & control shelters, mobile workshops, special
load-carriers, ablutions, kitchens, toilets, showers, offshore work & accommodation
modules, plant rooms, emergency refuges, fire pump-houses and specialised intermodal
transportation equipment. Shelters and containers are designed to give planners
maximum capability and flexibility.
 | Bootle
Containers operate a quality management system which has been assessed to the
quality system standard BS EN ISO 9001:2000. The company holds Type Approvals
issued by American Bureau of Shipping, Bureau Veritas, Det Norske Veritas and
Lloyd’s Register of Shipping. Special ISO logistic containers are produced in
a variety of configurations with side, end or full combination doors. |
ISO standard frames suitable for
complexing into facilities on-site enable the ISO container concept to be utilised
for a range of open-plan requirements whilst maintaining the full ISO shipping
capability of the container.
Additionally, the containers can be designed with integrated hook-lift systems
which are compatible with the demountable rack off-loading and pick-up system
(DROPS) and the palletised load system (PLS), which eliminates the need for a
DROPS flatrack to be made available for battlefield positioning, and facilitates
rapid deployment of key equipment. The units can be manufactured to suit Leyland-DAF
MMLC, Foden IMMLC, MLRS trailer and King DROPS trailer. Furthermore, the ends
can be designed to allow off-loading by SRTE. For air transport, units suitable
for transport by C-130 aircraft or underslung by helicopter are available.
| In addition to container
manufacture, we carry out complete equipment integration and can supply turnkey
systems ready for deployment. Container equipment integration for DROPS and PLS
takes into account the off-loading characteristics of these systems. Fire risks
can be catered for with the use of A60 fire-rated doors, windows and insulation
& lining, and for potentially explosive atmospheres we can supply intrinsically
safe electrical installations. All electrical work is backed-up with NICEIC installation
certification. | |

 | Steelwork
preparation and painting of modules is carried out to a wide variety of specifications,
including water-based systems, offshore oil NORSOK specification, and military
systems including Infra-Red Reflecting and Chemical Agent Resisting coatings.
For the nuclear energy industry, decontaminable systems are available. |
